KNEE PAIN
KNEE PAIN IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON ISSUES WE SEE AT HARBORSIDE SPINE AND SPORTS CENTER – ESPECIALLY AMONG ATHLETES AND ACTIVE INDIVIDUALS.

SYMPTOMS OF KNEE PAIN
- Swelling
- Stiffness
- Redness
- Instability
- Popping and clicking noises
- An inability to straighten your knee
DIAGNOSING THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF YOUR KNEE PAIN
Although our physical examination will give us an idea of what’s causing your pain, we’ll often want to confirm our diagnosis with an imaging test. In many cases, this may be a hands-on diagnostic ultrasound to create a live image of your knee to specifically evaluate the soft tissues, tendons, ligaments, and meniscus and to look for joint swelling/bursitis. If a more extensive injury is present involving bone, cartilage or meniscus is suspected, we may promptly obtain a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI.
Countless conditions and injuries can result in debilitating knee pain. Some of the most common ones among our patients in northern Michigan include:
- ACL injury
- MCL Sprain
- Meniscus tear
- Patellar tendinitis/tendinosis
- Joint Arthritis and cartilage disease
- Bakers Cyst
- Iliotibial band syndrome
- Dislocated kneecap

Quite often other doctors focus on temporary pain-relief measures or invasive surgery. As some of the best physiatrists and providers of relief for knee pain that northern Michigan has to offer, we believe in a more innovative way to naturally restore function and treat knee pain. We know that our patients want long-lasting relief and they want to be off the sidelines as quickly as possible – and that’s exactly what we strive to deliver. As such, Harborside Spine and Sports Center is primarily focused on minimally invasive alternative procedures that can potentially improve your symptoms and repair the damaged structure in your knee without a lengthy healing period, including PRP knee injections, bone marrow cell therapy, prolotherapy and more. We believe that these approaches offer a minimally invasive and viable method for treating knee pain.
